Ages & Stages Questionnaire

A child is at a table with several small pieces of a toy that might be building blocks. The child is looking over their shoulder at the camera.

The Wichita Public Library wants every child to be ready to succeed in school and beyond. One of the ways we're contributing is to make the ASQ-3 available to more families in our community.

The Advanced Learning Library offers access to the Ages & Stages Questionnaire, 3rd Edition for families with children ages 1 month through 5 years. This program empowers caregivers to learn about their child's strengths and identify where their child could benefit from more support. The screenings are free and easily completed in your home.

ASQ-3 asks questions in five important areas of a child's development:

  • Communication asks about language – what a child understands and says.
  • Gross motor asks about the large muscles of a child's body, arms, and legs.
  • Fine motor asks about the small muscles of a child's hands and fingers.
  • Problem solving asks how a child thinks, solves problems, and plays with toys.
  • Personal-social asks about self-help skills (feeding, dressing) and interactions with others.

When you're done, we'll schedule a parent conference with you where we help you understand your child's strengths and provide you with fun activity ideas for you and your child.

Tracking your child's developmental milestones is important, and it's never been easier to do. Stop by the Advanced Learning Library to learn more, or get started today in our Family Access portal.
