Outreach Services: Bringing the Library to You
The Wichita Public Library is committed to connecting with our community in meaningful ways, and we offer a variety of outreach services to make that happen! Our staff can attend your organization's event or provide informative presentations to your group on a range of library-related topics for both children and adults.
Whether you're hosting a community event, a professional conference, a church group, or a school assembly, we can help bring information about library resources, programs, and services directly to you. From talking about great books to showcasing our digital resources, we can tailor our visit to fit your specific needs.
What We Offer
- Library Booth at Events: Our staff can set up a table at your event to share information about library services, upcoming programs, and resources available to the community. We'll be available to chat, answer questions, and engage attendees with fun and informative materials.
- Presentations and Workshops: Need a speaker or workshop for your group? We can deliver presentations on topics ranging from library services, digital literacy, and reading initiatives to specialized topics like local history or career resources. These sessions are interactive, educational, and always tailored to your audience. We offer programs for both adults and kids, with age-appropriate content that keeps everyone engaged!

Solar Benches
A Wichita Public Library smart solar bench gives you a place to take a load off while charging your device and connecting to free Wi-Fi. It's also a great place to download and use e-books, e-audiobooks, and digital magazines for free with the Libby app.
We currently have three benches in the community with more planned.

StoryWalk®
A StoryWalk® is an activity families can enjoy together. This interactive attraction pairs literacy with physical activity. There are 20 stations along the walking path at the park, each one containing laminated pages from a children's book. Read the whole book with your child and ask guided questions about what they read, provided at the last station of the StoryWalk®.
StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson in Montpelier, Vermont. The Wichita Public Library currently has three StoryWalks installed around Wichita.
