Maker Space

Wichita Public Library / Services / Maker Space

Embrace your creativity with the Maker Space at the Advanced Learning Library. We have the tools to help you work on a wide variety of creative projects. Once you've met the requirements to use our equipment, you can reserve most* equipment through our online booking system. You can book equipment up to a week in advance.

The iMac computers are not reserved through the online booking system. Instead, those are first-come, first-served. The Wacom tablet is attached to one of the iMacs and can be used as needed.

3D Printers

We have four 3D printers of varying sizes. In order to use one of our 3D printers, you must:

Be at least 14 years old
Have a library card in good standing
Be certified by our staff

Cricut Maker

We have a Cricut Maker 3. In order to use the Cricut, you must have a library card in good standing. We do not provide paper, vinyl, or other materials, but do provide some tools and accessories.

Mac Computers & Drawing Tablet

The Maker Space includes two 24-inch iMac computers and one 27-inch iMac. These iMacs have:

Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, After Effects, Animate, Audition, Bridge, Character Animator, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InCopy, InDesign, Lightroom, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Premiere)
Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Garage Band, iMovie
Microsoft Office (Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams, Word)
Extra ports for external storage devices like SD memory cards, thumb drives, and portable hard drives (24-inch iMacs only)

A Wacom Cintiq drawing tablet is available for use with one of the iMacs.

Sewing Machine

We have one Janome 2222 sewing machine. To use the sewing machine, you must:

Have a Wichita Public Library borrower's card in good standing
Be at least 14 years old, or accompanied by an adult (18+) with a borrower's card in good standing while using the machine
Have made a one-hour Book-A-Librarian appointment at the Advanced Learning Library to go over how to thread and operate the machine prior to your first time booking the equipment
