Gaming at the Library

Posted on 10/19/2023 by Tara T.
Recently, the Wichita Public Library added a PS4 and a Nintendo Switch to the Teen Pavilion at the Advanced Learning Library! They are in the process of getting an XBOX One S as well as digital game passes for teens to enjoy. Right now, games available to play include Overcooked, Plants vs. Zombies, and Rocket League.

The Nintendo Switch will not be in the Teen Pavilion all the time because it will be traveling to different library locations for events. If you'd like to play it, be sure to look out for those events on the library website!

To get access to the gaming consoles, all you need to do is:

  • Be in grades 6-12
  • Have a Wichita Public Library borrower's card (the kind of library card that lets you check out items)
  • Talk to a staff member in the Teen Pavilion

The gaming stations are available on demand, so you can play any time that the library is open! All games will be rated E for everyone. The PS4 includes four controllers, so you can play games with your friends in 6th-12th grade who also have a borrower's card!

Here's a little bit about the games that are available right now:

Overcooked is a game where you and up to four players have to cook and make sure your food doesn't burst into flames.

Plants vs. Zombies is a game where you have to build your army to win against your enemies.

Rocket League is a game where you work with other people to get a ball into a net with similar rules to soccer but you are a car.

I look forward to playing these games with my friends at the Advanced Learning Library and taking advantage of all their other amenities.

Happy Gaming!
