Adventure begins at your library! The Summer Reading Program encourages kids and teens to read books and explore fun, educational and creative programs and activities with the Wichita Public Library all summer long!

Summer Reading Has Begun!

Stop by your favorite Wichita Public Library location to register and get all the supplies for pre-readers, kids, and teens, including a calendar filled with awesome programs all summer long!

You can track your Summer Reading progress online by visiting Wichita Public Library's Beanstack site or by searching for Wichita Public Library on the free Beanstack app. If you've never participated in one of our reading programs online, sign up in Beanstack by filling out some basic information, and then you can enroll in Summer Reading and other Wichita Public Library challenges.

Pre-Readers (Birth-Preschool)

Families can include their youngest kids in the reading fun! Pick up a bubble log with stickers from the library and see how often you can read, play, and learn together. Once you meet your goal, visit the library from June 27-August 1 to collect special prizes!

Kids Read (Kindergarten-5th Grade)

Set your own reading goals this summer and use our new adventure map to track your reading progress and complete fun challenges! Once you meet your goal, visit the library from June 27-August 1 to collect your prize pack and be entered into a grand prize drawing!

Teens Read (6th-12th Grade)

Set your own reading goals and track them with a customizable journal. Once you meet your goal, visit the library from June 27-August 1 to collect your prize pack and be entered into a grand prize drawing!

Adult Summer Reading

Build your own challenge this summer! Print out a Wichita landmark coloring sheet/checklist. Complete 5 out of 20 possibilities in Beanstack and earn a free open play coupon to Chicken & Pickle (while supplies last). Adult finishers will be entered in a grand prize drawing for tickets to Roxy's Downtown and a gift card for food and more fun!

Important Summer Reading Dates

  • Thursday, June 27: First day prizes are available for pickup.
  • Thursday, August 1: Last day of Summer Reading Program. Prizes cannot be guaranteed after this date.

Friends of the Library Bookmark Contest

The Friends of the Wichita Public Library invites kids and teens to submit artwork for a bookmark contest this summer!

Create your bookmark on a piece of paper (3 inches x 8 inches) and turn in your bookmark creation to your favorite Library location by 5 p.m. Thursday, August 1.

Winning bookmarks will be printed and handed out to Friends bookstore shoppers and members, and available at Library locations!

Put your name, phone number and email on the back of your creation!
