NEA Big Read: Wichita 2025

The 2025 NEA Big Read: Wichita selection is Sitting Pretty: The View From My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig. Sitting Pretty is a memoir in essays spanning personal stories and family histories from Taussig's childhood growing up paralyzed from the waist down. It offers "a fierce and fabulous revision to entrenched ableist scripts" (Kirkus Reviews) through "spunky, self-aware wit, combined with education that never feels didactic" (speaker and disability rights activist Emily Ladau).

Book Club Registration Now Open

You can register your book club as a participating group for the Big Read in 2025. You can request up to 7 complimentary copies of the Big Read title to use for your book club discussion during the 6 weeks of the event. There are a limited number of books to give away, so if you want to receive copies for your book club, please sign up early. The deadline to register as a participating book club for The Big Read is 5 p.m. on February 28, 2025.
