NEA Big Read: Wichita

The 2025 NEA Big Read: Wichita selection is Sitting Pretty: The View From My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig. Sitting Pretty is a memoir in essays spanning personal stories and family histories from Taussig's childhood growing up paralyzed from the waist down. It offers "a fierce and fabulous revision to entrenched ableist scripts" (Kirkus Reviews) through "spunky, self-aware wit, combined with education that never feels didactic" (speaker and disability rights activist Emily Ladau).

Book Club Registration Closed

Thanks to a strong response, our supply of book club books has been exhausted and we are not accepting any more book club registrations for 2025.

We're developing our slate of events for this year's program. Several events have been announced with more to come.
