Angelou Remodel

The Maya Angelou Northeast Branch Library first opened its doors in 1996. The branch had previously been housed at storefronts on 21st Street as well as in the City of Wichita's Atwater center. The Library's current master plan, titled Focused on Community: A Master Plan for the City of Wichita's Branch Library System 2019-2023 , calls for remodeling the interior and putting a small addition on the west side of the building. That project is in the planning stage now. To give us time to prepare for the start of construction, we will close the Angelou branch at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 28. Construction is scheduled to begin on October 14, 2024 and expected to take 3-4 months.

We would like your feedback. Please take a few moments to fill out this short survey.

Call for Artists

We have released a Request for Qualifications for art as part of the remodel project at Angelou, as well as at the Alford and Rockwell locations. The deadline to enter is September 13 at 5 p.m.

Preliminary Floor Plan
