While Library staff cannot answer your tax questions, we have many resources that will help you find the answers.

Tax Forms

Federal Tax Forms

• Wichita Public Library's annual Tax Form Distribution Program will run through April 15, 2025.
• This year, the IRS is providing us with Form 1040, Form 1040 Spanish, Form 1040-SR, and instruction booklets.
• The IRS no longer provides the Library with other forms, instructions, and publications that were available in previous years.
• You can print any form you need on demand from the IRS website. Forms can be printed at select Wichita Public Library locations for $0.10 per page using our mobile printing service.
• Alternatively, you can file your federal taxes online. Learn more at irs.gov/freefile.

Kansas Tax Forms

• The State of Kansas sends paper tax forms upon request only. The State of Kansas does not provide any paper forms or booklets to libraries.
• To request state forms, call the Kansas Department of Revenue at (785) 296-4937. You can request one Kansas income tax booklet to be sent to your home address.
• Residents can go to kansas.gov/webfile for free and safe online filing for Kansas Individual Income Tax Returns. This option includes direct deposit refunds in as little as 5-7 days.

The IRS has an office in Wichita at 555 N. Woodlawn, Bldg. 4. Its hours are listed as Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Call (316) 651-2102 to learn more about its services or to ask questions. Call (844) 545-5640 to schedule an appointment with the IRS office in Wichita.

State of Kansas

For answers about your state taxes, you can call the Kansas Department of Revenue in Topeka at (785) 368-8222 or visit the Kansas Department of Revenue's website. The Kansas Department of Revenue is generally open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:45 p.m.

Get Help Preparing Your Taxes

An easy way to get help is to call 211 to get ahold of United Way of the Plains. United Way offers income-based tax preparation assistance at a variety of locations in Wichita. United Way will help you determine your closest tax prep location and schedule your appointment.

Tax Scams

The IRS does not contact you by e-mail, text message, or social media to obtain personal or financial information. The IRS does not threaten you with lawsuits or imprisonment. These are all signs of scams.
