Service Update (August 19, 2024)

The State Library is updating its eCard system. Between August 19-25, we will be unable to search for, create, or renew Kansas Library eCards. Services requiring a Kansas Library eCard will not be affected by this maintenance.

If you have forgotten your Kansas Library eCard number, you can contact the State Library to retrieve it.

A Kansas Library eCard

The Kansas Library eCard (KSLC) is a free service provided by the State Library of Kansas in Topeka. Unlike a Wichita Public Library Card, the KSLC does not allow you to borrow physical materials. Instead, it provides access to digital resources that include:

Who can get one?

Any Kansas resident is eligible to receive a Kansas Library eCard. There are no age limits. The following are also eligible:

  • Students currently enrolled in and faculty currently employed at a Kansas college or university, even with a permanent address outside of Kansas
  • Employees currently employed at locations in Kansas, even with a permanent address outside of Kansas
  • Kansas residents deployed in the military
  • Military members stationed in Kansas

How do I get one?

To obtain a Kansas Library eCard, you will need to provide proof of Kansas residency. An existing Wichita Public Library card may be used as proof of residency. Contact any Wichita Public Library facility to provide proof and obtain a Kansas Library eCard.

Does it expire?

Each KSLC will automatically expire three years after being issued. Our staff can renew it upon request.
